7th Graders Learn Study Skills that Last a Lifetime

During the first several weeks of 7th Grade English the students were introduced to a number of study skills that will help them for the rest of their lives.  They learned about time management by keeping track of how they spent their time for a week then calculated whether or not their time could be spent more wisely.  They also learned organization skills that will help them remember where things are and when things are due.  This included how to use the assignment books and how to organize folders and other materials.  All of these study skills were tied together by having the students write down goals for themselves.  These goals were divided into long term, short term, academic, and personal.  The overall goal of these lessons was to help the 7th Graders have a smoother transition from elementary to junior high.
