On Wednesday, September 9, Mr. Kuhlers Introduction to Business class had a visit from Brandon Yoder.  Mr. Yoder graduated from Linn-Mar in 2000 then went into the Marines and currently is finishing his undergraduate work at the University of Iowa.  He has started his own business, Greentransitions, which is a small company in the start-up stage that makes and installs residential and small business wind turbines.  Mr. Yoder shared a presentation on entrepreneurial strategies and business plans.  He spent some time talking about the differences between an idea and opportunity.  He discussed internal and external environments and how those environments affect a SWOT analysis. Mr. Yoder talked about using his science and math skills in both building the small turbines and site analysis, such as measuring wind speeds. The students were able to ask questions for about 15 minutes at the end of the presentation.  Alburnett sophomore Alex Stepanek commented that he enjoyed learning about the importance of having a harvest strategy when the business is starting.  A harvest strategy is simply how and when you will exit the business.  Thank you to Mr. Yoder for taking the time from his schedule to visit Mr. Kuhlers Introduction to Business class.
